Synopsis

Based on the true story of Argentina’s most controversial First Lady, Evita follows the meteoric, ruthless ascent of Eva Duarte from an impoverished, illegitimate child to a glamorous actress, and ultimately, the political powerhouse wife of President Juan Perón. Driven by intense ambition, Eva positions herself as the saintly champion of the working-class descamisados while amassing immense personal wealth and power, before her tragic death from cancer at just 33. The narrative is framed and critically dismantled by the cynical narrator, Che, and propelled by a legendary rock-opera score featuring "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Oh What a Circus," and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall."
